A Birthday Wish for Tatay

It would have been a typical Thursday for forty-five-year-old Tita Tatad Valderama who usually stays home in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan, taking care of her beloved father and doing household chores. But on the seventh of August 2014, a call from Wish107.5 interrupts her laundry to deliver an exciting surprise.

Social media was where it all began 

“Nabasa ko kasi doon (sa Facebook) ang tanong, “Ano’ng Wish Mo?”, sabi ko sa sarili ko try ko ito, wala namang mawawala,” Tita recounted how it all started.

(I read on Facebook, the question ‘What’s Your Wish?’, I told myself I’d try it since there was nothing to lose anyway.)

Tita never thought that simply commenting on a Facebook post would make her little wish come true. Wish1075, embodying its name, made it all possible.

She was invited to attend the August 10 Wish Concert at the World Trade Center, Pasay City. Along with 9 others, it was announced during the free concert that their wishes posted on social media will be granted by the radio station.

A wish granted

Her wish was simple and sweet – a cake for her Tatay’s 80^th birthday.

According to Tita, her father has never received a birthday cake in his life. Tita can’t thank Wish 107.5 enough for giving not just a cake but a full party celebration on October 14, 2014.

“Malaki ang pasasalamat namin sa Wish107.5. Taos puso akong nagpapasalamat sa pag-asikaso sa amin.”

(We are very thankful to Wish1075. Wholeheartedly, I thank them for assisting us.)

Tita further shared how she felt during her father’s birthday party. She recounted how happy her father seemed that day.

“Nakita ko sa mga mata ng tatay ko na masayang masaya siya.”

(I saw in my father’s eyes that he was so happy.)

She admitted how Wish has greatly touched her and her father’s life, “Habang kami’y nabubuhay, my wish is Wish107.5, number 1 dito sa aming puso.”
