‘Behind the Wishper’ Concert to Take Audience through Kuya Daniel Razon’s Musical Journey, Wish 107.5’s Story

Dec 15, 2020

One wish can go a long way.

This is what Kuya Daniel Razon — the main man and the voice behind Wish 107.5 — has experienced first-hand. And for the first time, the story that led to the FM radio station’s launch will be unfolded through a digital concert aptly billed “Behind the Wishper.”

The event will be streamed live on December 20, 2020, Sunday, at 7 p.m. on the Wish YouTube channel.

A musical retrospect

Under Kuya Daniel’s helm, Wish has established itself as a pioneering Philippine radio station that uses both traditional and digital platforms to bring music closer to people. It is most notably known for the Wish 107.5 Bus, which is a game-changing platform that spotlights artists’ musical gifts.

“First and foremost, I am grateful to God for giving me this opportunity to become a small instrument in uplifting the talents of our Filipino artists… I never thought that that simple whisper of ‘Wish 107.5’ will really go a long way. [Now], the fervent wish in the beginning grew into more of a commitment,” he remarked in his speech at the 3rd Wish Music Awards.

Though the station — which has been acknowledged by many, including National Artist for Music Mr. Ryan Cayabyab, to be pivotal in the resurgence of OPM — was only launched in 2014, its origin goes way back. This will be told through a series of interviews and song performances that will weave Kuya Daniel’s musical journey — and how his desire to help uplift the OPM industry was shaped and came into fruition.

OPM A-listers including KZ Tandingan, Morissette, Yeng Constantino, The Juans, Daryl Ong, Bugoy Drilon, Janine Teñoso, Gerald Santos, and Marco Sison will take part as the event’s performers. Homegrown vocal group The Wishfuls will complete the roster of musical guests.

The constancy of charity

As the concept of Wish came from a man with a heart to be of help, charity has always been at the center of its endeavors.

Since its inception, the station has been mounting regular wish-granting initiatives. This advocacy becomes more highlighted during flagship events such as the Wish Music Awards, where Php100,000 is being given to each of the winner’s chosen beneficiaries.

During its sixth anniversary earlier in August, Wish has donated 107 tablets to underprivileged students in time for the commencement of blended learning classes in the country.

For “Behind the Wishper,” Wish will once again dole out a total of 107 tablets to deserving recipients. Coincidentally, this is also the station’s way of paying it forward after hitting the prestigious 10-million YouTube subscribership milestone last month.

To know how to nominate yourself or someone and become a tablet recipient, tune in to Wish 107.5 on the radio or via the Wish app or website.

“Behind the Wishper” is happening on December 20, 2020, Sunday at 7 p.m. PHT. The free concert will be livestreamed via the Wish YouTube channel. Follow Wish 107.5’s social media pages for updates.
