There’s a new laidback track from Callalily that needs to get a spot on your hugot playlist.
Sitting down with DJ Robin Nievera of the Roadshow, the band revealed in an interview that their newest single “Miles Away,” a narrative that talks about the “feeling the pain of losing the love of your life,” is some sort of an irony. While it revolves around the concept of a runaway bride, the song was actually written by someone who is about to get married — none other than their guitarist Tatsi Jamnague.
“Nung pinarinig niya sakin yung demo, tinawagan ko siya. Sabi ko, ’Pare, mukhang eto yung ini-imagine mo…parang fear mo ata ito,” vocalist Kean Cipriano recounted.
“Miles Away,” released late in March under Warner Music Philippines, is their latest musical offering since their 2015 10th anniversary record, “Greetings From Callalily.”
According to Kean, the band is looking forward to make more singles enough to be compiled in a full-length album.
But fans don’t need to fret as the four-piece alt/pop-rock act is still loaded with gigs where they can enjoy their music.
Recently, the band has put up a show entitled “Non-Showbiz Night”, wherein they teamed up with other OPM bands and singers like Lara Serena and Glaiza De Castro for an intimate evening of pure music.
“[This concept] It’s been playing on my head for the longest time. I have this thing na, I just want everybody to come together and play music,” Kean shared.
During their Roadshow guesting, he and the rest of the band conquered the Wish 107.5 Bus with some of their biggest hits like the “Flower Power” guitar-driven cut, “Pansamantala,” the fan-favorite, pleading-for-love anthem “Magbalik,” and their debut single, “Stars.”
They also treated Wishers as they performed “Miles Away” live for the first time. Watch their WISHclusive below:
