A Back-To-School Wish for a College ‘Apo’

Divina Niero is a 63-year old grandmother from Cainta Rizal.  She’s a radio lover, and an avid Wisher. Through Wish 1075’s continuing advocacy of playing song requests and granting wishes, Divina’s simple wish was granted.

As a loving grandmother, she wished that they had the money to buy the school books of her “apo”. She shared how desperate they were to provide complete books for his grandson, since they can only afford a few due to financial problems.

Then, she gave wishing a try – an act of love that she thought would help solve their problem.

“Ang saya ko kasi nagulat ako nung tinawagan ako sa bahay. Tuwang tuwa talaga ako, hindi talaga ako makatulog (I was so happy because I was shocked when I received a call at home [that my wish will be granted]. I was really very happy, I cannot even sleep.).”   This was the exact reaction of Divina when she learned that her grandson will finally have the complete set of books he needs for school.

Though wishing is just a simple act, having her wish fulfilled is a grand thing for her, Divina shared. “Napakalaking bagay ‘yon, kasi kailangan ng apo ko ‘yun eh (It really means a lot because my grandson really needs [those books].).”

As she and her grandson became recipients of Wish 1075’s public service-oriented advocacy, Divina mentioned yet another wish; that the station may continue with its thrust of playing song requests and granting wishes.

She further said how happy she is to be a Wisher, not just because of all the good music provided by the station, but also of the Wish jocks whom she said treats them, the listeners, as family.
