Metallica’s appearance in the 30th Bridge School benefit concert was filled with surprises as they performed a whole acoustic set featuring “Enter Sandman” from the 1991 US Billboard 200 chart topping record, The Black Album, and a Deep Purple cover of “When A Blind Man Cries.”

This is the band’s third performance at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in California, where they were also joined by Neil Young himself in performing the Buffalo Springfield cover of “Mr. Soul”.

The concert’s lineup also included performances from My Morning Jacket, Roger Waters, Dave Matthews, Willie Nelson, Norah Jones, Cage the Elephant, case/lang/veirs and E Street Band guitarist Nils Lofgren.

The annual Bridge School benefit concert is organized by Neil and Pegi Young. All proceeds from the concert directly benefited The Bridge School, which educates children with severe speech and physical impairments.
