Rachelle Ann Go joins West End’s ‘Hamilton’ cast

It was a wish granted for Filipina actress and singer Rachelle Ann Go after it was confirmed that she will be playing the role of Eliza, wife of America’s founding father Alexander Hamilton, for the West End production of the award-winning “Hamilton.”

She started making it into the international musical theater scene after appearing in the West End revival of “Miss Saigon” in 2014.

“Aahh Hamilton is a dream! Thank you all for your LOVE. I woke up crying today because of so much joy. To GOD be the glory,” an emotional and thankful Rachelle tweeted.

In a previous interview, she shared that she auditioned for the Lin Manuel-created show while she was in New York preparing for her role in the remake of “Miss Saigon”.

“I was sick that day — and even now I don’t know how I managed to find my singing voice. I thought that would be the last time I’d see Lin-Manuel — and anyone else connected to ‘Hamilton.’ So you can imagine how I cried when they rang and told me I was going to play Eliza.”

Recently, Go was awarded as the “Best Actress in a Musical” by BroadwayWorld Philippines for her portrayal of Fantine in Les Miserablés.

Go will be joined by another Filipina, Christina Allado, who will be portraying Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds in the musical.
