In less than two weeks, Asia’s Phoenix Morissette will be staging the first out-of-the-country leg of her “Morissette is Made” concert series. However, the songstress won’t be alone when she brings the show to the Dubai World Trade Center on August 17, Friday.
“Morissette is Made’” Dubai will also feature versatile OPM act Sam Concepcion as a special guest, and rising divas Princess Sevillena, Kimberly Baluzo, Louie Anne Culala, Carmela Ariola and Ace Bartolome — collectively called as the Wishful 5 — as the front act.
During the concert’s digital press conference in July, Morissette shared her thoughts on working with Concepcion, who is considered as one of the most popular singer-dancer-actors of his generation.

“I’ve had a couple of shows that featured both of us, but rare are those moments when we’re the only ones performing on stage. My collaboration with him (for ‘Made’) is something I’m very, very excited about…I’m looking forward to perform with a very good friend.”
Both artists are managed by local talent management group, Stages. While Morissette is signed under Star Music, Concepcion is one of the flagship acts of the label’s electronic/urban music-focused arm, Tarsier Records.
“Sam is known to be a total performer who sings and dances well. Our audience can expect full-blast sing-and-dance numbers,” the 22-year-old belter further revealed.
The Dubai leg of “Made” will not only be memorable for Morissette. The said concert also marks as the first time that front act Wishful 5 will be performing abroad.

“It is a great privilege to be chosen by Morissette’s team to be the front act of her show in Dubai. It’s more exciting because I’m sharing this [milestone] with my co-Wishfuls. I hope that our fans and the Filipinos there will be touched by the performance we’ve prepared,” Sevillena said in an interview.
The singers, who are alumni of Wish 107.5’s singing competition Wishcovery, have previously shared the stage with labelmate Morissette during the “Wishful Journey” concert. Held in June at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum, the show coincided with the successful launch of the Wishful 5’s debut album.
Meanwhile, asked about what musical lesson she has learned from the Asia’s Phoenix, Sevillena mused: “I’ve learned that being extraordinary and unique is always important. Performing is also about connecting to the hearts of the audience.”
