Wish 107.5 Premieres Own Innovative Online Singing Competition, Wishcovery, on YouTube
Sep 15, 2017
Wish 107.5 added another innovative content to its official YouTube channel as it premiered its own online singing competition, Wishcovery, on September 9, Saturday.
Weekly, the channel’s million-strong subscribers can watch new episodes and follow the road to stardom of 20 aspiring singers. Collectively called as “Wishful 20,” these rising musical talents were gathered during the nearly three-month auditions stage which began last June 8.

The contest enlists hitmaker Jungee Marcelo, The CompanY’s Annie Quintos, and RnB King Jay R as its resident judge-reactors. RnB Prince Kris Lawrence is the online competition’s host.
A whopping PhP 2 million worth of cash and contract, a house and lot, and a brand-new car await the first Wishcovery grand champion.
How Wishcovery began
Since its launch in August 2014, Wish 107.5 has been committed to helping enliven the local music industry with its innovative projects.
The Wishclusives YouTube video series, which is one of the radio station’s flagship endeavors, features world-class performances staged on board the Wish 107.5 Bus. As it garnered loyal viewership from netizens across the globe, Wish has transformed itself to become a Wishclusive gateway to the world of emerging and even already-established artists.
“As you can observe right now, we are already in a, sort of, another stage; we’re trying to level up that kind of thought — that we would like our Filipino singers to be known all over the world,” Daniel Razon, CEO and President of Breakthrough and Milestones Productions International (BMPI), remarked in the competition’s pilot episode.
BMPI is the company that provides and manages content for Wish 107.5.
“That’s the reason why we’ve also introduced Wishcovery — not only to give chance to professional singers, but also to those that really are aspiring to be known to the world of music,” Razon added.
Wishcovery airs on Wish 107.5’s YouTube channel every Saturday, 9 PM PHT.
How the competition works
Similar to the Wishclusives seen on YouTube, the competition will also use the Wish 107.5 Bus as the “performance stage” where the contenders will showcase their talent.
Every Monday at 9 PM (PHT), a batch of Wishful performances will be uploaded on Wish’s YouTube channel. These videos will be available for power-viewing until Friday, 12 noon. The YouTube hits gathered during the said period will comprise 30% of the final score.
The remaining 70% will come from the cumulative scores of the judges come Saturday. The reactors will base their scores on each contestant’s voice and star qualities, song rendition, and overall impact.
In every episode, one Wishful will be eliminated.
While all three reactors agreed that the competition will certainly be tough, watching top-notch performances weekly will make their task less enervating.
“Kailangan, pagbutihin ko yung pagpili ko…although tedious [at] nakakapagod, sayang-saya naman ako, kasi parang nanonood ako ng concert. Lahat sila magagaling, parang nasa frontrow ako ng isang magarang venue…ibang level yung performance!,” Marcelo enthused.
(I need to be careful with my choice…Although tedious and exhausting, I am really delighted because it feels like I’m watching a concert. All of them are great, and it feels like I have a front-row seat at a grand venue. The level of performance is really superb!)
Meanwhile, Wishcovery has already earned good reviews from its online viewers almost a week since it was launched.
Geffar King, another YouTube user, commented, “Thank you, Wish, for giving us this awesome idea…you’re really giving a chance to some underrated artists to showcase their talent. I hope you’ll discover more unknown [people] and make them superstars.”
