7 Things to Know About Jed Madela

Jed Madela has been making a name in the Filipino music industry since 2003. Now, it is no doubt that his accomplishments proved him worthy of the support and attention he received throughout the years. Aside from his amazing vocal range, what else do you kow about Jed? 1. Jed Madela’s real name is John Edward Tajanlangit. He was born and raised in Iloilo. His father, who was a choirmaster in their church, served as his mentor every time he joined singing contests in his younger years.

 

2. Jed Madela is a graduate of University of San Agustin in Iloilo, with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

 

3. For some time, Jed served as the lead vocalist of two local bands, Pose and Divest.

 

4. In 2003, the Philippines sent Jed as the first official male representative to the competition, Voice of Asia. During this, he was awarded the “People’s Choice Award” for leading the internet polls. Further, Jed also won Silver trophy in the actual competition.

 

5. In 2005, Jed dominated the World Championship of the Performing Arts (WCOPA) held in Hollywood, California. He won all major industry awards, and outshone over 3,000 contestants from 52 countries when he was awarded the grand prize.

 

6. Since these feats, Jed has already released 8 albums.
The latest of which is the album “Iconic”. According to Jed, this was one of the most difficult albums he has recorded. He showed his versatility through this record by getting out of his comfort zone and trying out the genre Electronic Dance Music (EDM).

 

7. As a way of giving back, Jed has also spent this time mentoring aspiring artists. Jed has also been an inspiration to fast-rising performers Darren Espanto and Rhap Salazar.

 

Wish 107.5 was lucky enough to have this world-class talent perform during a Roadshow. Jed rendered his own version of Toni Braxton’s “You Mean the World to Me”. With this, Jed is up for two nominations in the upcoming Wish 107.5 Music Awards – Best WISHclusive Performance by a Male Artist and Wish Male Artist of the Year. Vote for him here.
