Calein breathed new life into its six-year-old track, “Oras,” with the new version showcasing more emotion and fullness — all while preserving its core message.
The track was originally released in March 2020, just before the pandemic hit. And as with many other projects from that time, the Filipino alternative-rock band didn’t get much opportunity to promote it properly.
“Everybody was shocked, and we all had to adjust,” vocalist and songwriter John Dale shared in a press release. “We didn’t really get to promote it properly, so most of what we did became online content.”
Drummer Benjo Criste added, “The fire was there, but when the pandemic happened, everything was cut short.”
But, as people say, it’s better late than never.
Fast forward to 2026, the “Umaasa” hitmaker took the time to rerelease “Oras” and gave it another shot.
“I wanted to give the song new life and give the band a clear path this time,” John Dale said in the same press release.
“We didn’t change anything about the song because we wanted to keep its identity and emotions,” he further remarked.
Remastered by Jan Aries Agadier Fuertez, the song signals a fresh start for the band as they enter a new chapter.
“It’s perfect timing for those who haven’t heard Calein’s music yet,” noted bassist Oliver Salaysay.
For drummer Benjo Criste, he hopes that their listeners remember how they felt the first time they heard the song and see how far they’ve come.
