OPM rockestra band Silent Sanctuary is back in the scene with the release of their latest single, “UNA,” under Universal Records. The song was originally recorded as a demo in 2009, and long-time fans may remember it from the band’s early live sets.

Coinciding with the release, the band is also preparing for a three-date show in Japan from March 27 to 29. The OPM hitmakers are set to perform at Mr. Back Saitama, Livehouse Shinjuku SAMURAI, and Heaven’s Door.

The band was originally scheduled for just one show, but strong demand prompted additional dates. As a treat, the audience will get to witness a mix of classics, deep cuts, and select requests from fans.

“This is our first time in Japan. Supposed to be one show only, but because of the fans, they opened a second show and then a third,” shared vocalist Sarkie Sarangay.

In a press release, violinist Kim Mirandilla-Ng shared that he is “grateful for a new adventure,” while cellist Anjo Inacay expressed his excitement about how OPM has been expanding in Asia.

Apart from Japan, Silent Sanctuary will also hold a show in Singapore at Timbre+ One North on April 5, where fans can expect a “full-blast performance.”

Formed in 2002, Silent Sanctuary is one of the most prominent bands in the country, giving hits like “Ikaw Lamang,” “Kundiman,” and “Sa’yo,” among others. They are known for their distinctive “rockestra” sound that blends alternative rock with orchestral elements such as violin and cello.

Though they have been in the industry for over two decades now, the band is not one to settle. They plan to evolve creatively while still being driven by the same passion for music.

“Walang humpay na pasasalamat. Thank you to all the old and new fans. Sana hindi kayo magsawa, dahil hindi kami magsasawa gumawa ng kanta para sa inyo,” Sarangay enthused.
