Wish 107.5 and KDR Music House’s one-of-a-kind concert series, “Wish Date,” made its way north, and it was nothing short of stunning.
“Wish Date: Rewrite,” which was first staged at the Mall of Asia Arena in April, held a special leg in CSI Stadia Dagupan on Sunday, May 31. Drawing thousands of music fans in the city, the event celebrated OPM and film with performances from Apo Hiking Society, Over October, and Aquila Packing.
Apo Hiking Society, who’s always in their element when on stage, rendered timeless anthems. The duo of Jim Paredes and Buboy Garrovillo — along with their ace bandmates — sang classics, such as “Kabilugan ng Buwan,” “Blue Jeans,” “Taksho Medley,” “Ewan,” “Show Me A Smile,” “Paano?,” “Awit ng Barkada,” “Tuyo Nang Damdamin,” “Panalanin,” and “When I Met You.”

Over October proved why they’re one of today’s most in-demand bands with their originals, including “Wait,” “Sandali Lang,” “Ikot,” “123,” “Dahan,” and Kaakit-akit.” Meanwhile, Aquila showcased her singing and piano skills with her renditions of “Alapaap,” “I Think I’m In Love,” “Lifetime (Reimagined),” “Something in the Way,” and “A Thousand Years.”
An experience different from the usual concert format, “Wish Date” combines live music and film into one event. During the Dagupan leg of “Wish Date: Rewrite,” the audience immersed themselves in a short film of the same name.
“Rewrite,” the movie, served as a sequel to Love Tales, which was first shown in a previous edition of the concert series. Rewrite brought back familiar faces, including ViVoree, Joao Constancia, Lienel Navidad, and Shaun Salvador — with special participation from Ms. Susan Africa.
