Multiplatinum and GRAMMY® award-nominated singer-songwriter Kehlani is back with the release of her much-awaited single, “Folded.”
Released under Atlantic Records, the song has garnered over 17.4 million streams globally as of June 23 and continues to do so.
The track reunites Kehlani with Khris Riddick-Tynes, the producer behind her 2024 GRAMMY®-nominated hit “After Hours.” It features additional production by Andre Harris, who’s produced songs for Alicia Keys and Mary J. Blige, among others; Donovan Knight (Justin Bieber and Jill Scott); and Don Mills (J. Cole, Juice WRLD).
“Folded” marks yet another high point in what has already been an extraordinary year. Kehlani previously earned nominations at the 2025 BET Awards for “Best Female R&B/Pop Artist” and “Video of the Year” for “After Hours.”
In a recent interview with Wish 107.5, Kehlani reflected on the deeply personal journey behind her music and its unexpected global impact.
“I always say this: I made a lot of this music for this next era of my life in my bedroom, and I made a lot of music before that… And to remember those moments of like — I know the four walls I made this in, where I was at in life, my personal story — and then you go across the world and you play it, and people are singing it and they're relating to it, and they're like, ‘This saved my life’... To me, I can't fathom that it connected in that way. And it's something I have to mention every time I'm on stage overseas. [I]t’s a huge blessing,” she shared.
Since emerging in 2014, the Bay Area-born artist has racked up over 5 billion streams, over 20 gold and platinum RIAA certifications, and five GRAMMY® Award nominations. Her genre-spanning collaborations include work with Cardi B, Post Malone, and Eminem, as well as soundtrack contributions for “Suicide Squad” and “The Fate of the Furious.”
In 2020, her sophomore album It Was Good Until It Wasn’t debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and appeared on year-end lists from Billboard, Esquire, Hypebeast, NYLON, and Stereogum. She followed up in 2022 with Blue Water Road, featuring Justin Bieber and Blxst.
Kehlani’s momentum carried into 2024 with the GRAMMY®-nominated CRASH and its smash single “After Hours,” surpassing 170 million streams. Selling out her biggest tour to date, she captivated over 150,000 fans in arenas across the country, including Brooklyn’s Barclays Center and Los Angeles’s Kia Forum. Adding to her accolades, she featured on Jordan Adetunji’s breakout track “Kehlani,” earning another GRAMMY® nomination for “Best Melodic Rap Performance.”
