Playback, the beloved throwback music fest, is back. And yes, your dose of nostalgia is guaranteed! If last time, Playback sent your emo/pop-punk heart into bliss, this time they’re swinging into pop acts that defined an era.
Blue first played the Playback stage when the festival leaned into the ‘00s boy band era. The British group rose to fame in the early 2000s with sleek pop-R&B hooks and harmonies, including their smash “One Love” — which hit number three on the UK Singles Chart — along with “All Rise” and other tracks that fans still sing along to. So, better get ready for warm fuzzies if you’ve been wanting to swoon over their timeless charm.
After his breakout on American Idol’s seventh season, David Archuleta gave us tracks like “Crush,” “A Little Too Not Over You,” and “Something ‘Bout Love.” He previously performed in the Philippines multiple times, even staging his solo Playback event, where he mixed his international hits with OPM favorites — including Ogie Alcasid’s “Nandito Ako.”
You might remember Terry Crews’ all-time classic comedy scene, where he jammed to the piano riff of “A Thousand Miles.” The song, indeed, is at the apex of pop culture in the early 2000s. And the voice behind that very track, Vanessa Carlton, is making her way to Manila as part of Playback’s upcoming show.
