I Belong to the Zoo Headlines First Major Concert at New Frontier Theater This October

If you were LSS-ed by “Sana” some years ago, you have I Belong to the Zoo to thank.

This October, all systems are go for I Belong to the Zoo’s first major solo concert. The event will be held on October 24 at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.

Fans can expect to hear the band’s well-loved tracks live, including “Sana,” “Balang Araw,” and “Balita.” Over the years, these songs have become anthems that many listeners associate with their memories of love and heartbreak.

Talking about how their listeners connect to their songs, vocalist Argee Guerrero said, “Para sa akin kasi, you have to be aware of what you’re feeling right now — embrace it, kumbaga.”

“‘Pag tapos mo nang pakinggan ‘yung kanta, may strength ka na to do something better. It always gets better naman kahit anong mangyari,” he shared at a press conference held in September.

I Belong to the Zoo started as a solo folk project by Argee and has since grown into a full-fledged band. A staple in the OPM scene since the 2010s, the outfit is currently composed of Argee, Simon Philip Clariza (lead guitar), Lee De Veyra (rhythm guitar), Gerald “Gere” Guerrero (bass), and Paolo “Ow” Owyong (drums).

“As a full band, sobrang nagre-rely kami sa isa’t isa. Nagtutulungan kami sa pagsusulat para talagang ‘yung mga nasulat naming kanta is a product of all five of us. Collaborative talaga siya,” Lee remarked.
