Star in a Million Grand Finalist DK Tijam: Passion and Profession
Crooner DK Tijam invaded the Wish 107.5 Bus during his Roadshow stint with DJ Robin on January 18, Wednesday.
The singing heartthrob is back in Manila after his 11-year stay in Toronto, Canada where he pursued a vocal teaching career.
“I [stayed in] Toronto for 11 years that’s why I missed Manila so much. [There], I taught kids aged 8 to 16 as a vocal coach at a school.”
According to DK, he enjoys watching the kids he is teaching grow — knowing and seeing first-hand the improvement they achieve on a daily basis.
The balladeer was first introduced to the local music scene when he became one of the strongest contenders of the singing contest, “Star In A Million,” back in 2003. Then 16 years old, he braved to join the show to use his passion to give his family a comfortable life.
Now, the Star In A Million finalist-turned-vocal coach comes back to where it all started as he is set to headline an upcoming concert aptly titled, “DK Tijam: Restart, The Homecoming Concert.”
The show, which will be held on January 27 at Teatrino Greenhills, will feature guest artists Kyla and Tim Pavino among others.
To give glimpse on what he is offering on his comeback concert, DK performed his WISHclusive covers of Kyla’s “Hanggang Ngayon”, KZ Tandingan’s “Mahal Ko o Mahal Ako” and Ella May Saison’s “Till my Heartaches End” on board the Wish 107.5 Bus.
“This experience is so cool and perfect! It’s so cool to finally be back in the Philippines,” he enthused as he described his experience inside the roving music hub.
As for his wish, he said that he wants to do more music in the country, to meet new people and write his own songs.
